Vitesse :

In the name of Rava, he teaches that, back in the time of Jerusalem, we would go up to Jerusalem three times a year, alright, during the festivals. And what did we find in Jerusalem? First of all, we found all those Jews who came from all over Israel to be strengthened, to go and celebrate the holidays. We would go in and see the Levites singing, we would see the Kohanim performing the sacrifices.

There was so much, so much holiness. There was a great, great elevation, and people would arrive in Jerusalem and draw so much strength to last until the next holiday. And so we would come to Jerusalem, we would get a boost of purification, of purity, of holiness for the rest of the year. Now we are told by Rabbi Elazar, he says today we no longer have the Holy Temple , so how do we manage to get this fill of spirituality and holiness?

He said, and he cites a verse. I don't remember the verse anymore, but he cites a verse where he says that the month of Elul is "Jerusalem's first," it has the light of Jerusalem. And so for one month, there is all this holiness that was in Jerusalem during the month of Elul. And so it is a month that is here to allow us to specifically absorb a lot, a lot of holiness to precisely go and face all the problems of life that await us.

And we invite you to come and study at Kollel every day.
