The second degree is linked to the perception of things. It is written that when Abraham sees the Bedouins, the term "Vayar" is written twice. He saw them, and then he saw them again. Once again, Rashi jumps in.

Why? He saw them twice. And Rashi tells you the first look is the look at the event itself. He saw three Bedouins.

Second look, take a step back. Second degree: Ah, Hashem sent me this event. Hashem sent me these guests. At first he thinks it's three Bedouins, and then he says no, this is an opportunity for me to perform this mitzvah of receiving guests and acquiring merit.

Meaning, I don't take the event just as it is. That is the first degree. And what is the second? It's that I take a step back and I understand that you shouldn't take it at face value; you have to interpret things.
