Today is the 10th of the month; apparently, there is a word in Hebrew, or two, that is very difficult to translate into any other language. In Hebrew, it means "go towards yourself." How do I...if I go...It's towards others, no, it's not towards me. How can one go towards oneself? That is why all the commentaries, Rashi first, say that God promised Abraham: "Go, it is for your own good, and you will have a great name." Yesterday we understood that we must change our habits, but today we will understand something enormous in the name of the Baal Shem Tov.

It is a well-known story. Once, he was studying with his student, who was called Rabbi Wolf—Zev in Hebrew, which means wolf. And as they were studying together, he said, "You know, every situation that presents itself to you, every person you meet during the day, if you see something wrong there, it is something you need to fix in yourself." Meaning, you never go towards others; you go towards yourself . The more people you meet, the more faults you see, they are faults within yourself.

He said, "What?""Even a non-Jew, someone like that, whom you meet?" He said, "Of course." They hadn't even finished speaking when someone knocked on the door, saying, " Hello, anything need repairing? Anything need repairing?" At the time, that was common in Ukraine. People went around asking if there was anything that needed fixing. He offered, but the Baal Shem Tov said, "No, there is nothing." He continued studying; ten minutes later, the man passed by again.

"Hello, anything need repairing?" So then, the Baal Shem Tov said to his student, "Go check downstairs, there must be a small lamp, something broken. ""Give it to him to repair." Well, he gave it to him to repair. They finished the lesson and the Rabbi said, "I find it hard to swallow that every person I see around me, every flaw others have, is something for me to fix in myself." The Baal Shem Tov said this. "Don't say that you have a hard time swallowing it , you know, that you cannot swallow it like that.""You say 'I can't swallow it ,' you just don't want to swallow it." He left, he took the carriage.

Anyway, the carriage got stuck in the snow and they had to push the horses and the carriage. They called for Rabbi Wolf. He told the carriage driver of the time , "No, I am not capable." And the coachman says, never say that you are not capable. Say you don't want to, you don't want to believe that message, that everything you see around you, well, it starts at home.

When a couple gets married, one becomes the mirror of the other. As soon as one tries to fix the other, the mirror, that's when the problems start. Then as soon as you go outside, everything is a mirror, dear friends. And if we see things in the mirror that aren't right, well, we have to fix ourselves.

You'll tell me that's too hard to swallow. Well, know that it's true, but we don't have the will to do it. And here is what God says to Abraham. Don't worry, everything that you see in return, try to control it within yourself.

We'll finish with this sentence. Well, in Hebrew, it might sound better, but we'll try to say it in French. To control yourself, that is intelligence. Bravo.

To control, not control, to understand others. There you go. Understanding yourself, that is intelligence. Understanding others, that is tvouna, ah, that is already wisdom.

Controlling others, that is power. But controlling yourself, dear friends. Now that, that is not just power, is it? That, in Hebrew, it's called...it's authenticity, it's the goal, it's the message for us.

And here is what it says: "Abraham, go towards whom? Towards people. No matter what happens, everything you see in others, bring it back to yourself." The...we will try. Have an excellent day, Arab Lazar.
